Science, USA
I have been an editor since 2017 at Science, a general interest magazine and scientific journal published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a non-profit organization and the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society. I handle papers in many topical areas at the intersection of the biological and physical sciences. I received my doctoral degree in Biological Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and hold Bachelor of Science degrees from Vanderbilt University in Biology and Chemistry. My research prior to becoming an editor focused on biochemical and structural analysis of enzymes involved in metabolism and biosynthesis. As a Senior Editor, my responsibilities include selecting submissions for review, choosing appropriate reviewers, ensuring data availability and integrity, engaging with the community at meetings, and coordinating with others at AAAS/Science to promote and communicate research to the scientific community and public. I also judge annual prizes administered by AAAS/Science and am a co-administrator of the BioInnovation Institute and Science Prize for translational life sciences research.
