Young Scientist Program 2024 (YSP2024) Fellowship

On behalf of the Biomolecular Horizons 2024: Discover, Create, Innovate Organising Committee we are delighted to invite early career researchers to participate in the Young Scientist Program (YSP2024), taking place in the Macedon Ranges, Australia from Friday 20- Sunday 22 September 2024.  

YSP2024 will bring together outstanding PhD candidates and early career researchers (<10 years post-PhD) from the FAOBMB region and IUBMB member countries for a 2-day scientific and networking program, prior to the Biomolecular Horizons 2024: Discover, Create, Innovate Congress. 

During the 2-day scientific and networking program, the outstanding young scientists will have the opportunity to disseminate their research to an international audience, build their global network with peers, and promote their scientific career. As well as presentations from all participants, YSP2024 will include extensive networking opportunities and career-focused workshops. All participants will receive a Travel Fellowship to support their participation at both YSP2024 and Biomolecular Horizons 2024: Discover, Create, Innovate

  • Registration fee waiver for the Biomolecular Horizons 2024: Discover, Create, Innovate Congress from 22-26 September 2024. 
Travel fellowship that contributes towards:

Eligibility:
Applicants should: 
  • Be PhD candidates or early career scientists of no more than 10 years post-PhD experience.
  • Be a member of the relevant National Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology that is an Adhering Body or Associate Adhering Body of IUBMB, or be a member of FAOBMB, or have the sponsorship of a member of such a Society. 
    - Examples of included societies are FEBS (Europe), FASBMB (Africa), PABMB (North & South America).
    - Sponsorship is for PhD candidates that are not yet a member of a society.
    - For more information on IUBMB and FAOBMB memberships, please visit the IUBMB and FAOBMB websites, where you will find the list of countries that have IUBMB or FAOBMB Constituent Societies or that are FAOBMB Associated Members, as well as contact information.
  • NOT have previously attended an IUBMB or FAOBMB Young Scientist Program

  2. Curriculum Vitae (Education, Career experience, Awards received, Publications, Research Outputs)
  3. Statement of Purpose
  4. Abstract that you plan to submit for presentation at Biomolecular Horizons 2024: Discover, Create, Innovate 
  5. Two letters of recommendation.
  6. Certification of your current membership in a relevant National Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, provided by the Secretary or other responsible officer of that Society.
    - If you do not have a valid related Society membership, please contact your organisation.
    - If a PhD student is being sponsored by a member of a Society, include the certification of the sponsor’s membership, AND a signed letter from the sponsor confirming their agreement to be the sponsor. 
  7. Statement of achievement relative to opportunity (note: this attachment is optional)
  8. A return airfare quote (economy class) to Melbourne, Australia from your place of residence in US dollars
